Selling to Simson

Database Nation

As I mentioned earlier, lately I’ve been selling most of my library using Amazon’s Sellers Account service.

A few days ago, something odd happened: I sold the book Database Nation to its author, Simson Garfinkel. When I first read the order, I didn’t make the connection — but when I wrote the name on the address, it clicked: the author is buying the book! It didn’t seem right to me that an author should pay for his own book, so I issued a refund and received a very nice thank you note in return.

Since then, I’ve added a link to Simson’s web log to my own. His writing follows many of the topics I ponder, and it is nice to have a bit of a connection. He’s a Movable Type user, also, which is extra-nice.

That is so cool! I wonder why he didn’t have copies of his own…?
